May 26, 2026 Under the visionary leadership and directives of the worthy Inspector General of Prisons Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, practical steps are underway at Central Prison Haripur to promote cleanliness, hygiene, preventive medical facilities, and a modern correctional administration system.
In this regard, HBsAg, HCV, and HIV tests were conducted for all prisoners and workers performing duties in the kitchen sector to make the food preparation and distribution process safer, healthier, and compliant with hygiene standards.
Furthermore, modern, hygienic food distribution containers and kitchen items have been introduced to provide prisoners with clean, warm, and fresh food in a better and more dignified manner.
Notably, this system for effectively providing warm and fresh food was first introduced in the prison department at Central Prison Mardan in 2025. Following its positive results, the same model is now being implemented in an improved manner at Central Prison Haripur.
These initiatives reflect the achievement of the following objectives:
- Better standards of cleanliness and sanitation
- Preventive medical facilities and regular medical check-ups
- Safe and hygienic food preparation and distribution
- A healthy prison environment
- Promotion of a modern correctional and administrative system
All of this progress is the result of the joint and coordinated efforts of the jail administration, medical staff, and kitchen management team, carried out under the vision of reformation, rehabilitation, and human dignity.
