HARIPUR: In a significant move to protect public health and curb the spread of vector-borne diseases, a specialized team from the District Health Office (DHO) Haripur, accompanied by an expert biologist, conducted a comprehensive visit to Central Jail Haripur on October 22, 2026.
During the visit, the health team carried out detailed inspections of various high-risk areas across the jail premises to identify and neutralize potential mosquito breeding sites. To directly combat vector propagation, anti-dengue protective powder was applied at critical locations throughout the facility.
As part of the initiative, the DHO team conducted an intensive awareness briefing tailored for jail staff, with a special focus on Class-IV employees. The session featured an informative multimedia presentation covering the root causes of dengue mosquito breeding, key preventive protocols, and the critical role of environmental sanitation.

Participants were instructed to maintain strict hygiene standards inside and around the prison premises. Key directives issued included:
- Eliminating stagnant water sources immediately.
- Keeping all water storage tanks, containers, and vessels securely covered.
- Adopting personal protective measures against mosquito bites.
- Seeking immediate medical evaluation upon the onset of any dengue-related symptoms.
The primary objective of this joint campaign is to raise health awareness among prison personnel and inmates, upgrade sanitation standards, and foster a safe, disease-free environment within the institution.
This proactive health initiative was successfully executed under the personal direction and keen interest of Superintendent Central Jail Haripur, Mr. Najam Abbasi, in close coordination with the District Health Office Haripur—marking a crucial step forward in safeguarding public health and preventing dengue outbreaks.
