September 9, 2026 The District Monitoring Committee conducted a comprehensive oversight visit to Central Jail Haripur under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Haripur, Mr. Rehmanuddin. The visiting delegation included Additional Deputy Commissioner General Madam Basharat Bibi and Additional Deputy Commissioner Qamar Zia Malik, alongside representatives from various municipal and district departments.
Upon arrival, the jail administration—headed by the Superintendent—provided an in-depth operational briefing covering security frameworks, medical provisions, prisoner welfare programs, and ongoing administrative reforms. Following the briefing, committee members undertook a detailed inspection tour across key facilities, which included:
- Women’s Ward
- Jail Hospital and Medical Units
- Cookhouse (Langar Khana)
- Jail Factory and Vocational Training Workshops
During the walkthrough, the committee rigorously reviewed sanitation standards, food preparation quality, and the overall living conditions provided to the inmates.
At the conclusion of the visit, Deputy Commissioner Rehmanuddin commended the jail administration for its dedicated efforts in enhancing institutional management and uplifting inmate welfare standards. He assured the committee’s continued administrative support and cooperation for future developmental initiatives aimed at prison reform and community rehabilitation.
